E & S Recordings: Bio

Sheri Timsak

Sheri was born the second of six children to Don and Eleanor (Pischner) Mooney in Livonia, Michigan. Her parents were born and raised on Beaver Island. After several years away, her family returned to the island when Sheri was a teen. Soon after, she began composing songs, four of which are included in this collection.
Sheri graduated in the top eight of her class (eight students graduated that year) from Beaver Island Community School. She married Joseph Timsak and they have three children; Joey, Krystle and Bryan. Sheri can currently be seen at the Beaver Island Boat Company where she has worked for almost 10 years.
Sheri has fond memories as a child, singing with the family on long road trips and around her parents’ home. She vividly recalls her father singing Christmas carols to the family in his warm, deep voice. Sheri's rendition of "Rose Garden" earned her 2nd place at her junior high school talent contest in Phoenix, Arizona. Once on the island, with the encouragement and support of the band teacher Joe Moore, she joined the Beaver Island High School Band as a singer. Having discovered that the island had limited opportunities for her to perform, she became involved in the Beaver Island Talent Show 20 years ago. For the past 15 years she has been the events coordinator and is proud of the courage and heart of all the performers she has seen over the years. Sheri took on this position in order to foster those with a desire to perform that might otherwise have no venue for their talent.
Sheri is very grateful to Kevin White who was "instrumental" in being her first instrumental accompaniment when she first sang "Wind Beneath My Wings". Just for fun, Sheri was one of the original "Kevettes" along with her sisters, Dawn and Roberta, singing backup for Kevin on several songs. Sheri's pure, clear voice soon outshone the squawking of her sisters.
She owes much to Steve and Ele Hagerman, for soon after hearing Sheri sing in the 2005 Christmas Cantata, they approached her with the idea of producing a record showcasing her voice.
She appreciates this opportunity to perform for you.
Thank you for listening.

E & S Recordings

Since first coming to Beaver Island, located in the middle of northern Lake Michigan, El and I have been impressed with the residents’ artistic talents, especially their musical talents.

Two years ago we heard Sheri sing in an annual Island event known as the “Christmas Cantata” and we were impressed. But unlike other Island musicians, we didn’t hear her sing much after that. After we heard her in our second “Cantata” we approached her about doing a CD. We had an acquaintance on the Island, Joddy Croswhite, who we knew had some experience in the music business and is a musician in his own right, so I went to see him to learn what would have to be done to accomplish a CD.

While talking with Joddy I learned that he has a comfortable project recording studio, he has produced songs in the past and that he and his son, Stryder, also an accomplished musician, would be interested in meeting with Sheri and see what could be done.

A short time later, E & S Recordings was created, giving the Island all the pieces it needs to showcase the talent it has or might attract. We knew that Joddy and Stryder were very good musicians but Sheri’s project has shown us that they are also, great arrangers, producers and engineers. We are lucky to have them available.

It is our hope that Sheri’s CD, “You Don’t Know Me”, will do more than introduce you to Sheri, but it will also introduce you to more of the talents that Joddy and Stryder possess and some scenes from our home, known as the “Emerald Isle”.
